Since its founding in 2011, the ECDC—a teaching clinic where law students work under the supervision of its licensed director—has served numerous small businesses and entrepreneurs at no charge to clients. In the process, the clinic has provided more than $1 million worth of legal services to the regional business community. Under the leadership of Professor Sean Mangan, who directs the Clinic, the ECDC provides businesses with a one-of-a-kind learning experience that mixes Silicon Valley innovation with individualized client work experience. It benefits not only UC Law students and its clients but also contributes to the startup environment in Cincinnati, Ohio—a city gaining recognition for its business-friendly atmosphere (have you seen those Ohio marketing ads? 😉).
Since previously working with the UC law clinic at the beginning of the year, the Motiv team has now gained several LOIs from various high school coaches around the Greater Cincinnati region. These teams come from a range of schools including Walnut Hills High School, Loveland High School, Elder High School, Oak Hills High School, and Beachwood City School District in northern Ohio. With this comes greater legal needs for Motiv.

This past month, the Motiv team met with University of Cincinnati College of Law's Entrepreneurship & Community Development Clinic (ECDC)! Students Brian Traub and Richard Misischia (overseen by Gibran Peña) will be working with Motiv regarding regulatory compliance and drafting our terms of service, preparing Motiv for its beta launch.
For the next few months, the Traub and Misischia will be working with Motiv to:
Review of Motiv’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service: The Clinic will begin by reviewing and updating these documents to reflect the Client’s current needs.
Drafting of Motiv’s Terms of Service: The Clinic will draft the Company’s Terms of Service Agreement.
Research Memos: The Clinic will conduct research and compile memos addressing COPPA compliance, legal pitfalls in fundraising automation, and data scraping issues.

Motiv is a great way to stay connected and reinforce connection amongst the team outside of games and practice. It allows you to track stats individually and as a team, share game footage with your team, RSVP for practices and games, purchase merch, fundraise for the team, and more! Plus, its entirely free!
