This agreement is effective in MASSACHUSETTS, MAINE, ILLINOIS, IOWA, MISSOURI, NEBRASKA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, RHODE ISLAND, TENNESSEE, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, AND WASHINGTON, meaning any school district in these states is automatically able to use Motiv while being compliant.

Specifically, Ohio schools must have data privacy agreements (DPAs) with third-party technology vendors, a requirement strengthened by Ohio Senate Bill 29. These agreements ensure student data is protected, used only for educational purposes, and is not sold or advertised.
